Bristol is most searched for place outside London for both renters and buyers

Bristol is the most sought-after area in the UK (outside London) amongst potential renters and buyers according to new figures released by Rightmove.

Data from the property listing site shows Bristol was searched for more times by both renters and buyers than anywhere else outside the capital in 2019.

The most popular cities to rent outside London
1. Bristol
2. Manchester
3. Liverpool
4. Cambridge
5. Glasgow

The most popular cities to buy outside London
1. Bristol
2. York
3. Glasgow
4. Edinburgh
5. Sheffield

Miles Shipside, director of Rightmove said ” Asking prices in Bristol have grown by 2.3% over the past year, far higher than nationwide growth of 0.8%. Properties sell more quickly than anywhere else in the south-west, typically spending 50 days on the market before being sold.

Shipside continues ” There’s high demand for suitable housing in Bristol and the surrounding area, as it’s a vibrant regional centre with a strong local economy, The city’s economy has grown faster than average in recent years, with employment levels generally higher than in other large cities.

Though this is good news for those already on the property ladder, it makes it harder for first-time buyers to get onto it. These are dynamics that are likely to continue, making Bristol a good place to invest.”

Just lettings, just Bristol

The Engine House in Bedminster released to the rental market.

After more than 30 years of trading as a car parts shop, Motaman in Bedminster has been transformed into 9 high spec apartments. The owners of the premises took the decision to close the business down just over 2 years ago as the industry became more difficult to operate in. Their vision of a unique apartment complex with a high end feel and shared outdoor space has been achieved following completion last month.

The Engine House includes 7 x 2 bed apartments and 2 x 1 beds. 8 of the units include outdoor space for the tenants to enjoy. All apartments are fitted out with low energy lighting, high quality Howdens kitchens with Bosch appliances, USB points to sockets, and stunning apartment doors in a feature colour. Cycle store provision for at least 16 bikes has been included. Car parking has not been included, encouraging tenants to live without the need for a car in a City that is pushing for less and less vehicles. The development is situated over 3 levels with the ground floor being retained as commercial space and we anticipate a tenant in keeping with the area to occupy the premises before long.

The Bristol Residential Letting Co are pleased to have been selected to manage the building and secure quality tenants for all 9 units. 1 bed apartments are priced at £975 and 2 beds range from £1200-£1300. We are pleased to have secured our first tenant after 24 hours of marketing and anticipate the development to be fully occupied in the coming weeks. The development brochure can be viewed through here Engine House Brochure
